Types of Users in Linux & Differences


1.     Normal User:  While 1st time login to server as a End User means every one can login as a default user it depends on type of Operating System your logging.

Ex: If it is a Amzn Linux default user will be “ec2-user , For Ubuntu default user will be “ubuntu”  For Centos default user will be “centos”……etc

2.     Super User or Root User or Admin User: Who Can Access the server with no restrictions means full Access & All Permissions given to this User.

              Sudo -i     is Command   to become Root User



 

Difference B/w Normal & Root Users in Linux: 

Normal User has only Access to some services whereas Root user or Super user has all powers to operate all services like create users, delete, stop, start server....etc.

Normal User Cannot Become Root User it is not possible Until he has access given by Root or Admin user and to become root user command "sudo -i" 

Super User or Root User for any Organization comes under System Admin or DevOps Admin Category

Normal User Cannot  Access all only Root User Can do anything in the server 

"sudo -i"  command will not work for all users only work for Superuser or Admin or Root User
